On Thursday, Jürgen Klopp will announce his first squad as head coach of the German national team.

However, names that could appear in the squad are already leaking out in the German media. Among them, Said El Mala is reportedly set to return. The Cologne shooting star was surprisingly left at home by Julian Nagelsmann for the World Cup.

Another name not present at the World Cup is Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The keeper moved from FC Barcelona to Ajax Amsterdam in the summer. There, he immediately established himself as the number one and is now expected to return to the DFB team's goal under Klopp.

The Search for the Right-Back

The biggest surprise in the new squad, however, is said to be Felix Keidel from SV Elversberg. The 23-year-old right-back played his first three Bundesliga games ever for the promoted club this season. He impressed, among other things, with a goal.

Klopp reportedly identified the right-back position as the biggest problem area, as he plans to use Joshua Kimmich in midfield again.

Therefore, in addition to Keidel, Yann Bisseck is also expected to be nominated. The Inter Milan defender, who primarily plays as the right-sided centre-back in a back three in Italy, was last involved in March 2025.

Undav and Baumann Not Included

According to reports, Klopp will, among others, forgo Oliver Baumann. The keeper from Ilzer's club Hoffenheim had only been demoted to number two just before the World Cup due to Manuel Neuer's comeback.

Furthermore, Deniz Undav is also surprisingly not expected to be included. The striker was one of the few convincing Germans at the World Cup with three goals and two assists.
