Clear words from Jürgen Klopp regarding the heavily racist-tinged discussion about the German national team on social media.

According to some social media users, the team is "not white enough" and "not German enough" – at least, similarly directed comments were abundantly visible on X, Instagram and co. recently after the German national team's false start in the Nations League.

Klopp fundamentally doesn't want to engage with such things. "They (the users making racist comments, ed.) don't get my thoughts. I have little time for stupidity in normal life, and even less on social media," said the national coach at the press conference before the match against Serbia on Thursday (from 8:45 PM in the LIVE ticker>>>).

"In the past, you had to write a letter to the editor"

Social media has significantly lowered the inhibition threshold for uttering partly dehumanizing remarks.

"Everyone was allowed to express their opinion in the past, but if you wanted to make it public, you had to write a letter to the editor. You got a fountain pen, unscrewed it, had to write a letter, needed a stamp and an envelope. By the time it was in the mailbox, you weren't angry anymore," Klopp said.

Life together in the DFB camp "couldn't be better," the 59-year-old further explained.

Fundamentally, "the whole world should take an example from a sports changing room. There, everyone is respected based on the right facts and not discredited based on the wrong opinion."
