More and more details are coming to light regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's abrupt departure from Portugal's national team.

After the 41-year-old superstar surprisingly left the "Selecao" training camp on Wednesday evening, "Marca" has since reported about a veritable "manhunt" that allegedly occurred around CR7.

Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre has now published new alleged details surrounding the Ronaldo affair.

False Promises?

Accordingly, following the match between Portugal and Norway (in which Ronaldo sat on the bench for 90 minutes), a meeting reportedly took place between the five-time World Player of the Year, national coach Jorge Jesus, and association president Pedro Proença.

During that meeting, Jesus reportedly apologized to Ronaldo for having the Al-Nassr forward warm up for an extended period without ultimately bringing him on.

Jesus allegedly announced that he would apologize again at the next press conference and admit a mistake.

Ronaldo Reportedly "Exploded"

However, Jesus ultimately did not fulfill this "promise." Instead, the 72-year-old denied any disagreements with Ronaldo and referred to his authority as national coach. No player would influence his decisions.

Ronaldo reportedly interpreted these statements as a breach of trust. Aguirre, who is considered a close confidant of Ronaldo, reports that Ronaldo perceived Jesus' words as "serious betrayal" and "exploded" with anger.

The 234-time national player then left the camp. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has already announced via Instagram that he will soon explain the reasons behind his departure.

On Thursday evening, Portugal faces Denmark in the UEFA Nations League (from 8:45 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>) - definitely without CR7.
