Injury scare: DFB star forced to abandon training
The centre-back is again at risk of being sidelined. He injured himself during the final training session before the UEFA Nations League match against Serbia.
The German national team is facing a bitter absence ahead of their third group match in the UEFA Nations League against Serbia.
According to German media reports, centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck is said to have sustained an ankle injury during training. The BVB defender twisted his ankle during an exercise and subsequently had to abandon the final training session prematurely.
The 26-year-old was then taken directly for an MRI scan. A diagnosis is still pending.
Recently Celebrated Comeback
Schlotterbeck had only recovered in mid-September from a medial ligament tear in his left ankle, which he sustained in the second World Cup group match against Ivory Coast (2-1) in Toronto.
The injury sidelined him for several months. So far this season, he has only played two matches for Borussia Dortmund.
Schlotterbeck is likely to miss the upcoming match for the DFB team. On Thursday, the squad of new national coach Jürgen Klopp, who is battling a negative record, will host Serbia at the Allianz Arena in Munich (from 8:45 PM in the LIVE ticker>>>).
