Portugal responds to the commotion surrounding superstar Ronaldo with a victory in the Nations League!
On the third matchday, Jorge Jesus' team secures a 4:2 win against Denmark in Group A4 in Copenhagen.
However, the first chance falls to the hosts. Already in the seventh minute, former Salzburg player Daghim looks for ex-Sturm player Höjlund with a dangerous cross, but the latter arrives a step too late.
Thus, it is the Portuguese who celebrate first. Denmark fails to clear, and ultimately it's Cancelo who scores to make it 1:0 after a one-two with Ramos (13').
Then things happen quickly. Leao misses a chance for the second goal. In turn, Damsgaard is set up by Maehle. He remains calm and converts into the far corner (23').
Portugal finds a quick response
However, the equalizer doesn't last long, as two minutes later Ramos restores the initial lead after an assist from Fernandes (25'), and Portugal also has the next action (40'). Leao finds Ramos, but Hermansen clears at the last second, sending the teams into halftime with a 1:2 score.
Not even ten minutes after the restart, Denmark gets back into the game. Höjlund is sent through and scores to make it 2:2 (53').
Portugal has the perfect response ready. Vitinha heads in his team's third goal (67'). Joao Felix seals the deal in the final minutes. He fires with his right foot and secures a 4:2 victory for Portugal.
Wales defeats Norway
In the parallel match, Wales wins 2:1 against Norway in Cardiff.
In Wales, too, the first goal doesn't take long to arrive. With their first chance, Bobb slots the ball into the right corner, putting Norway in the lead (11').
However, things turn sour for the team a few minutes later. Ryerson gets injured and has to leave the field (16').
Wales gets into the game
Nevertheless, the visitors set the pace for the first half-hour, only then do the hosts get better into the match and can promptly equalize.
After a turnover, the ball eventually finds its way to Thomas, who delivers a cross to James. He equalizes in the 38th minute to make it 1:1. No further goals are scored in the first half.
Heggem sent off
However, things happen quickly after the break. Heggem fouls James, stopping a clear scoring opportunity, and is shown a red card. Williams converts the ensuing free-kick beautifully directly into the net. (48') Wales thus turns the game around.
Nevertheless, Norway remains dangerous. Haaland narrowly misses with a header after about an hour. At the other end, James misses the chance to put the game to bed early (68').
Wales defends resolutely in the final phase and only allows one more chance through Larsen (88'). After the shot goes just wide of the right post, the hosts secure a 2:1 victory against the "Vikings".
Portugal clearly leads the table
In the Group A4 table, Portugal leads with three wins from three matches. Denmark, Norway, and Wales follow behind, each with three points.
