Germany drops points in Greece as well
Jürgen Klopp's team cannot get more than a draw. Wins, however, go to the Netherlands, Portugal, and Denmark.
Germany missed out on revenge against Greece on the fourth matchday of the UEFA Nations League.
After the 0-1 home defeat last Sunday, Jürgen Klopp's side had to settle for a 0-0 draw in Thessaloniki.
From a German perspective, the match started with a scare. As early as the second minute, the Greeks had a good chance, but Bayern keeper Urbig distinguished himself with Masouras' header.
After that, the Germans took control without initially becoming truly threatening. In the 32nd minute, a fine attack finally led to a German goal by Burkhart, but Bischof had handled the ball in the build-up. The VAR disallowed it.
The Germans also dominated the remainder of the match, but either luck or cutting edge was missing. Thus, they ultimately had to settle for a share of the points.
Victory for the Netherlands
Also in Group 2 of League A, the Netherlands hosted Serbia and managed to win 2-1.
"Oranje" took the lead in the 31st minute with a direct free-kick goal from Teun Koopmeiners. Shortly after, however, the Serbs equalized thanks to Mihajlo Cvetkovic (35').
In the second half, Serbia actually had the better chances, but Joshua Zirkzee scored the winning goal for the Dutch in the 72nd minute.
Thus, head coach Xavi's team sits in first place with eight points after four matches. The Serbs, on the other hand, are last with no points.
Narrow Victories for Denmark and Portugal
In Group 4 of League A, both Denmark and Portugal secured narrow victories.
The Danes defeated Wales away 1-0. The decisive goal was scored by former Sturm Graz player Rasmus Höjlund from the penalty spot (75').
The Portuguese, however, managed to turn the game around at home against Norway. The Scandinavians took the lead through Kristoffer Ajer (36'), but Joao Cancelo (38') and Goncalo Ramos (79') secured the victory for the Iberians.
Portugal clearly leads the table with four wins from four matches. Denmark follows with six points. Wales and Norway are in third and fourth place respectively, each with three points.
