Daniel Nussbaumer played a total of 50 matches in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

At 26, it's now over for the forward. Nussbaumer ended his active career on Thursday due to severe ankle problems, as the Vorarlberg native announced on Instagram.

Most recently without a club

"A dream died last week," Nussbaumer revealed. "It was a long way to the top, a very long way, and just a short moment that destroyed everything."

Until summer, the striker was still active in the fourth Italian league with US Savoia before his contract was not renewed. Now he is finally drawing a line under his football career.

Most successful spell in Altach

"After a long period of suffering, I must now officially end my football career, as my health condition, or rather the condition of my ankle, no longer allows me to play football at the highest level," Nussbaumer writes.

He began his active career in his hometown at SCR Altach. For the Vorarlberg club, the 26-year-old played a total of 56 matches, scoring eight goals and assisting five others. In between, he played one season for VfB Stuttgart's second team.

Made U21 debut

In November 2020, Nussbaumer even made it into the U21 national team due to his performances in Altach, featuring against Turkey and Andorra.

From Altach, he moved to Académico Viseu in Portugal in summer 2021, where he could only play 36 matches in four years due to injuries. He scored nine goals for the club.

After stints in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga with Admira Wacker and SW Bregenz, he eventually moved to Italy in winter 2026.
