Mourinho on Vini ban: LaLiga wants to "finish off players"
Real's attacking star has been banned for four games after his red card against Villarreal. His coach Mourinho is particularly bothered by the way the ban was announced.
Jose Mourinho commented on the Vinicius Jr. case in the context of Real Madrid's 4-3 victory against AS Roma in the Champions League.
Shortly before the match, it was announced that Vini Jr. would be banned for four LaLiga games due to his red card and his reaction to it (More info>>>).
The timing of the announcement particularly annoyed the Portuguese coach: "They want to finish off a player two hours before the game. That doesn't seem normal to me."
"They're doing it shamelessly now"
The match against Roma was also "important for Spanish football," his team had "won three points for Spanish football, for the rankings, and for the reputation of Spanish football," Mourinho complained.
"The Special One" did not mince words against the domestic league. "They're doing it shamelessly now. The cat is out of the bag. Two hours before the game, a player has to find out that he has a four-game ban," Mourinho said.
The punishment itself did not seem to bother the Portuguese. But: "Couldn't they have done that earlier? Couldn't they have done that tomorrow morning? Do we first have to travel by bus and almost arrive at the stadium before we find out that Vinicius has a four-game ban?" the Real coach complained after the game.
