No Chance for Award? Barca Star Not Attending Ballon d'Or
Despite two nominations, the Spaniard will not travel to London. A clear assessment from his club is behind the decision.
The Ballon d'Or gala, taking place for the first time in London, kicks off at 9 PM.
Pau Cubarsí will not be among those present. The 19-year-old will not travel to London with the Barcelona delegation after the lost Clásico, but will instead remain in Spain to recover.
The defender is nominated in two categories: both as the best young talent of the year and as a contender for the prestigious Ballon d'Or.
Yamal Eyeing Third Award?
The reason for his absence is apparently his low chances of winning. FC Barcelona assumes that Cubarsí will not win the award for best young talent and therefore prefers to rest the defender.
Instead, the Catalans are reportedly expecting a triumph for Lamine Yamal. The attacking player could win the award for the third time in a row.
