Rangnick: "Red Bull clubs must become a powerhouse again"

ÖFB national team coach Ralf Rangnick continues to closely monitor developments at his former employer Red Bull.

After Jürgen Klopp's move to the DFB, Roger Schmidt is the new head of football for the "Red Bulls". In an interview with the "Salzburger Nachrichten", Rangnick attests that the former Salzburg coach possesses "all the professional and personal prerequisites" for this job.

"It will be important for him to connect the clubs with each other again and utilize synergies. Salzburg and Leipzig did this strongly during my time. The Red Bull clubs must become a common powerhouse again; only then does it truly make sporting sense," Rangnick believes.

Klopp as DFB National Coach "Makes Sense"

According to Rangnick, Jürgen Klopp now being the national coach of his home country Germany "makes sense for the DFB and also for Jürgen Klopp".

"He has done excellent work for over 20 years in three different locations. He lifted Mainz, Dortmund, and Liverpool to a new level. Now he is a national coach for the first time. And I know from my own experience that it's different again. You don't have the players as often and you can't sign new players," notes the ÖFB national team coach.

"In terms of player potential, Germany already has a lot of quality. And his appointment has already created a certain euphoria," Rangnick knows.
