PSG wins the UEFA Supercup 2026!

In the final, played in Salzburg, the reigning Champions League winner prevailed 2-1 against the Europa League winner.

However, the first good chance of the match belonged to the English: Boubacar Kamara tried his luck from distance but missed narrowly (13.).

PSG Takes the Lead

PSG then took the lead - even though stars like Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, and Fabian Ruiz were initially only on the bench. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia received the ball at the left corner of the box, cut inside with a quick move, and precisely slotted the ball into the top corner (21.).

The French continued to press, but four of Nuno Mendes' teammates missed his cross in the 26th minute.

Villa Talent Scores

However, the momentum then shifted - and the "Villans" created several good opportunities. Brian Madjo first put a header just wide of the goal (28.). Madjo also appeared in front of goal in the 35th minute but curled the ball past the far post, and in the 41st minute, the 17-year-old headed over.

Three minutes later, Madjo was again in the spotlight, first breaking through strongly but then only hitting the post. The youngster was then able to capitalize on the next prime chance: an increasingly long cross from John McGinn found its way to Madjo, who placed the ball under the crossbar with a direct shot to make it 1-1 (45.).

Close Decision Favors PSG

After the break, Aston Villa became dangerous again – McGinn's shot was saved by PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov (50.). Instead, the Champions League winner took the lead once more.

Désiré Doué was sent through by Dembélé and scored to make it 2-1, a supposed offside position was not confirmed after a VAR check – defender Matty Cash negated the offside by a few centimeters (61.).

Safonov prevented an immediate response from the Premier League club, saving against George Hemmings. At the other end, Marco Bizot was on hand against Mendes, but Kvaratskhelia could not convert the rebound (71.).

PSG then saw out the match quite comfortably. With the UEFA Supercup win, the star ensemble in Salzburg can celebrate their first title of the season early.
