Marcel Koller suspends Zurich player: "An absolute no-go"
The Zurich team didn't exactly have an ideal start to the season. A player approached Koller after a win.
Six points from six games - the yield for ex-ÖFB national team coach Marcel Koller at FC Zürich has room for improvement.
At the weekend, they suffered a 2-4 defeat against Young Boys Bern in front of their home crowd. ÖFB international Heinz Lindner is now only on the bench, while first-choice goalkeeper Silas Huber is fit again.
Koller appeared disillusioned after the match on "SRF": "We conceded two goals through the middle. We weren't a man down. Everyone thinks the other person will take the ball. And then the opponent takes it and scores the goal."
Player Demanded Playing Time
Then there are other issues as well. Juan Jose Perea was suspended by Koller. "After the win against Lausanne, he demanded that I should have played him. Where would we be if every player could demand to play a half now too?" Koller rages about an "absolute no-go".
The suspension remains in effect until further notice. Furthermore, a deal fell through at the last minute. Midfielder Betim Fazliji from St. Gallen was supposed to join, but the medical check was negative. For Koller, the situation in Zurich is not exactly getting any easier.
