The former ÖFB national team defender is ending his active career as a professional footballer at the age of 34.
Gernot Trauner is ending his active football career!
The now 34-year-old center-back officially announced this on Instagram on Sunday.
"After 16 years of dedication and passion, the moment has come for me to end my career as a professional footballer," writes the former ÖFB international.
Until summer, the Linz native was under contract with Feyenoord Rotterdam. There, he played 137 competitive matches since 2021 and celebrated, among other things, the championship in 2022/23.
In Austria, the 16-time ÖFB international played for clubs including LASK and Ried.
