Wanner wins heated Eredivisie clash with PSV
The Austrian international takes over the Dutch league lead with Eindhoven. However, the player from Vorarlberg is not currently a first-choice.
PSV Eindhoven wins "De Topper" (the top match) 3-1 against Ajax Amsterdam on the fifth matchday of the Eredivisie, taking over the top spot in the league for now.
Ricardo Pepi (5') secures an early lead for PSV, which Tolu Arokodare is able to equalize (23'). However, Lutrashel Geertruida puts Eindhoven back in front before halftime (45'+1).
Wanner only from the bench again
Paul Wanner, who thus did not start for the third consecutive game, is substituted on at halftime. The Austrian international registers 29 touches, completes 15 of his 19 passes, and wins seven of his nine duels.
He also played a part in the build-up to the 3-1 goal with a good ball recovery. Esmir Bajraktarevic then scores (90'+2).
Overall, the match in Amsterdam is a heated one with nine bookings. PSV players alone receive six yellow cards – their most in a league game in 50 years.
