For 30 Million! Como Reportedly Snaps Up English World Cup Player

Como 1907 is pushing ahead with its squad planning for its inaugural season in the UEFA Champions League.

As reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Italian club is on the verge of signing Trevoh Chalobah. The 27-year-old central defender is expected to move from FC Chelsea to Lake Como for around 30 million euros.

Chalobah came through the "Blues'" youth academy and made a total of 151 competitive appearances for the top London club. In 2025, he won the UEFA Conference League with Chelsea, among other achievements.

Under Thomas Tuchel, the defender also made his debut for the English national team in June 2025 and was most recently part of the "Three Lions" squad at the 2026 World Cup.

Second Most Expensive Transfer in Club History

Should the transfer go through as expected, Chalobah would be the second most expensive new signing in Como 1907's history. Only for Nico Paz did the club invest more money: The North Italians transferred around 66 million euros to Real Madrid for the Argentine. However, "Los Blancos" have a buy-back clause of 80 million euros.

After finishing fourth in the last Serie A season and thus qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the first time, Como is significantly strengthening its squad under coach Cesc Fàbregas. The ambitious club had already signed striker Alvaro Morata, who had played for Como on loan last season.

According to Transfermarkt, Chalobah's current market value is estimated at 40 million euros.

This would give Austrian international Stefan Posch a prominent competitor. However, whether the 29-year-old will remain at Como beyond the summer is already uncertain. Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel recently confirmed to the "Allgemeine Zeitung" that they are still actively working on signing Posch.
