Thigh Injury! Havel Misses Genoa's Opener Against Napoli
Elias Havel is out injured for Genoa CFC's Serie A opener against Napoli. Austrian internationals Franz Stolz and David Puczka also remained unused.
Former Hartberg striker Elias Havel missed the Serie A season opener due to injury. The 22-year-old was absent for Genoa CFC in their 0-2 loss against champions SSC Napoli due to adductor problems.
Three Austrians Unused
Besides Havel, the two other Austrian internationals at Genoa also remained unused. Goalkeeper Franz Stolz and defender David Puczka were on the substitutes' bench but were not brought on by coach Daniele De Rossi.
Napoli struggled for a long time in their season opener but decided the match in their favour in the final phase. Kevin De Bruyne gave the defending champions the lead in the 82nd minute, and Antonio Vergara added to make it 2-0 five minutes later for the final score.
Cagliari Starts with Away Win
In the second late Saturday match, Cagliari Calcio celebrated a successful start to the season. The Sardinians narrowly won 1-0 against Parma Calcio.
Alessandro Romano scored the decisive goal in the 79th minute, securing Cagliari the first three points of the new Serie A season.
