New role for Christoph Baumgartner at Leipzig?
Following Xaver Schlager's departure to England, Baumgartner could take over his role and become the new vice-captain.
Christoph Baumgartner is now back in recovery training after his injury.
However, his comeback is still some time away. Nevertheless, the Austrian international continues to hold a high standing in RB Leipzig's internal hierarchy.
When asked if David Raum would remain Leipzig's captain next season, coach Martín Demichelis confirmed the left-back in that role. This was reported by "Sky" reporter Philipp Hinze.
These players are his deputies
Several players are in contention to be deputies, replacing Austrian international Xaver Schlager, who moved to Nottingham Forest.
Demichelis first named Baumgartner, provided he is fit. Former captain Willi Orban, Benjamin Henrichs, and new signing Esteve are also among the choices.
Baumgartner was already part of the team council last year.
