St. Pauli: Austrian Player Gets New Competition
As many as three Austrians are embarking on the challenge of the 2. Bundesliga at Millerntor. For one, the chance for playing time seems to be dwindling.
FC St. Pauli is likely to make another move in the goalkeeper position.
As "Sky Sports" reports, the relegated Bundesliga club is on the verge of signing Dimitar Mitov (29).
The Bulgarian is reportedly joining from Scottish top-tier club FC Aberdeen - as the number one. Not good news - at least for ÖFB keeper Simon Spari (24).
Spari Still Awaiting Debut
Following the departure of regular keeper Nikola Vasilj (30), Ben Voll (25) was still in goal for the "Kiezkicker" at the start of the season against Greuther Fürth.
However, the 15-time Bulgarian international Mitov is now set to be brought in ahead of him and former Klagenfurt goalkeeper Spari.
Spari had moved to Hamburg in the summer, just like his Klagenfurt colleague Jannik Robatsch (21). In November 2025, the Graz native suffered a syndesmotic ligament tear and was sidelined until March.
Spari has not yet made his debut for the first team, but he has appeared 18 times for the second team.
