French great announces retirement
The striker will likely hang up his boots at the end of the current season.
Olivier Giroud announced his retirement shortly before his 40th birthday.
"This is very likely my last season," the Lille striker told "L'Equipe". "That's why I'm enjoying every moment."

Giroud, who turns 40 on Wednesday, moved back to his homeland from LAFC in the USA in 2025 and signed with OSC Lille.
There, he features regularly this season. He currently has one goal and two assists in five Ligue 1 matches.
With the "Dogues", the veteran also plays in the UEFA Champions League. In the premier club competition, he will face his former club Arsenal with Lille after the international break.
Giroud won the cup four times with the "Gunners". He also has another cup title with Chelsea.
With the "Blues", he also won the Europa League (2019) and the Champions League (2021). In 2018, he celebrated the World Cup title with France's national team.
