Next Record Transfer? Aston Villa on Brink of Mega-Deal

Aston Villa are reportedly on the verge of a multi-million euro deal.

As several media outlets consistently report, the "Villans" have agreed a deal with Chelsea for the transfer of Nicolas Jackson. The 25-year-old Senegalese player is set to move to Birmingham within the Premier League.

For Aston Villa, the transfer could signify a new club record.

Fee Could Rise to 75 Million Euros

The base fee for Jackson is reportedly around 55 million euros. However, through agreed bonus payments, the total sum could increase to up to 75 million euros.

This would make Jackson the most expensive player in the club's history. Just this summer, Aston Villa signed Johan Manzambi from SC Freiburg for around 60 million euros.

Last season, Jackson was on loan at FC Bayern. For the German record champions, the striker registered 14 goal contributions in 34 competitive matches.

However, under new Chelsea coach Xabi Alonso, the Senegalese international has no future. Now, a permanent move within the Premier League could follow for Jackson.

Villa Invest Heavily

Aston Villa has already delved deep into their pockets this summer. Besides Manzambi, arrivals include Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton (40 million euros), Zion Suzuki from Parma (30 million), Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid (25 million), and Modou Keba Cisse from LASK (5.5 million).

Should the Jackson transfer actually go through, the "Villans'" transfer spending this summer would break the 200 million euro mark.

Financially, the Europa League winners can afford these expenditures. Through the sales of key players like Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and Ezri Konsa, Villa generated nearly 300 million euros this summer.

Watkins' Departure Makes Striker Necessary

Furthermore, current starting striker Ollie Watkins is on the verge of a move to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

The departure of the English forward would leave a significant gap in attack. With Jackson, this gap is now intended to be filled as prominently as possible.

The 25-year-old could thus not only become Aston Villa's new record transfer but also the most expensive Senegalese player of all time.
