Schlager and Nottingham squander win against Ipswich
Despite numerous chances, Nottingham Forest are held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich.
Oliver Glasner and Xaver Schlager again fail to secure a win with Nottingham Forest. Against Ipswich Town, Nottingham had to settle for a 1-1 draw despite a clear advantage in chances.
Glasner's team, with Schlager in the starting eleven, took control early and had their first big chance to take the lead in the seventh minute. Jair Cunha's shot, however, went wide of the goal.
First the lead, then a defensive blackout
In the 13th minute, Neco Williams deservedly put Glasner's team ahead. Williams was completely unmarked in the middle after a cross from Daniel Munoz and buried the ball with a spectacular direct volley.
After that, Ipswich increased the pressure and created good opportunities repeatedly. Forest, however, were closer to a second goal than Ipswich were to an equalizer. Schlager also shone with dangerous through balls, which repeatedly led to promising attacks.
Shortly before halftime, Ipswich equalized out of nowhere. Nikola Milenkovic made a costly error and Julio Enciso took the opportunity to make it 1-1 (41st). Glasner had repeatedly signaled to Milenkovic before the equalizer that he was playing too passively.
Wasteful chances after the break
In the second half, Nottingham were extremely wasteful with their chances. Minute after minute, Schlager and his teammates created good opportunities, often squandering them carelessly.
The actions of his attacking players visibly drove Glasner to despair on the sidelines.
In the closing minutes, the hosts from Ipswich even had several chances to punish the guests' poor finishing and win the game.
With the draw, Nottingham can temporarily move out of the relegation zone, but could slip back in over the course of the matchday.
