Oliver Glasner's Nottingham Forest narrowly lost 0-1 to champions Arsenal on the seventh matchday of the Premier League.

From the outset, the match was characterized by the defensive work of both teams, which meant clear goal-scoring opportunities remained scarce for a long time. ÖFB national team player Xaver Schlager played the full ninety minutes.

Ndoye provided Forest's first attacking threat in the 19th minute, but his shot was saved by Arsenal keeper Raya.

Nottingham holds their own

Arsenal's first truly good opportunity didn't arrive until the 72nd minute. After a brilliant combination with Ödegaard, Timber laid the ball back to Declan Rice, who, however, shot over the goal.

In the following minutes, Arsenal grew stronger and established themselves in Nottingham Forest's half.

Gunners take the lead with their first shot on target

In the 80th minute, substitute Madueke finally struck. The introduced attacking player broke through on the left side and hammered the ball into the top corner for the 1-0 lead.

Remarkably: It was the "Gunners'" first shot on target against Nottingham Forest.

Subsequently, Glasner's squad still created two good chances to equalize. First, Chris Wood was blocked in a promising position after a counter-attack, before Murilo shot just wide of the top corner after a strong solo run (90.).

With the defeat, Nottingham Forest sits in 18th place in the table with five points after seven matchdays. Arsenal, on the other hand, occupies second place.
