Austrian International Klarer Makes His Mark in Championship
The Birmingham City captain helps his team to three points with an assist.
Christoph Klarer played a key role in Birmingham City's 3-1 away victory against Lincoln City in the 13th round of the Championship.
The Austrian defender also started his 13th league game of the season as captain and provided the decisive impetus for the "Blues'" victory with his assist for the 2-0 goal.
August Priske had already given Birmingham the lead in the first half. After the break, Klarer's big moment arrived: The defensive specialist set up two-goal scorer Priske with a brilliant assist, who confidently converted to make it 2-0.
Birmingham Secures the Result
Lincoln immediately pulled one back to make it 1-2 through substitute Tom Bayliss, but the home side's hopes did not last long. Alexander William Cochrane restored the 3-1 final score after an assist from substitute goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, who had replaced the injured James Beadle at half-time.
Despite 55 percent possession for Lincoln, Birmingham's efficiency with 14 shots was enough for three goals.
With 23 points after 13 games, Birmingham City is currently in the top third of the second English league.
