Rapid's Opponent in Conference League Playoff Confirmed
The Hütteldorf team will face an opponent in the next two weeks who has already played against Sturm Graz.
In the Conference League playoff, SK Rapid will face Heart of Midlothian FC.
The Scots drew 1-1 in the second leg of the Europa League playoff against Benfica Lisbon, losing the tie with an aggregate score of 2-7.
Even in the second leg, after a 6-1 victory last week, Benfica were the dominant team with more chances. The goal just wouldn't come.
Surprisingly, the Scots took the lead in the 77th minute through Icelander Tomas Magnússon. The joy was short-lived, as Dodi Lukébakio scored the equaliser a minute later (78').
Decisive Weeks for Rapid
As a result, Hearts can no longer participate in the Europa League, but will still fight against Rapid for a spot in an international group stage.
The first leg of the Conference League playoff will take place on August 20 in Edinburgh. Whether Rapid will be represented internationally in the autumn will be decided in the return leg on August 27 in Vienna-Hütteldorf.
Hearts had already played against Sturm Graz in the Champions League qualification this season. The Scots lost both matches with an aggregate score of 0-6.
