Pep Guardiola demands mega salary from Italy – Offer is half
Pep Guardiola and the Italian Football Federation likely have completely different ideas when it comes to salary. The Catalan reportedly wants double the current offer.
After missing out on the World Cup, the Italians are still looking for a new head coach. According to reports, Pep Guardiola was long the favourite, officials reportedly met the Catalan in Barcelona >>>
According to a report by "Gazzetta dello Sport", Guardiola is set to receive massive power within Italian football. However, it is rather unlikely that the Catalan will accept the offer at present.
Especially concerning salary, the parties are reportedly far apart. Italy is offering ten million euros per year, but Guardiola is looking for an annual salary closer to 20 million euros.
Guardiola still a priority
The Catalan remains a priority for the Italians. For this, they are being patient. If no solution is found, however, it could once again be a domestic coach.
Then, former head coach Antonio Conte would be considered a candidate. He led Italy to the quarter-finals of the European Championship in 2016. Roberto Mancini, who brought the European Championship trophy to Italy in 2021, would also be a topic of discussion.
Andrea Pirlo is also mentioned. However, it remains to be seen. There is no ultimatum for Guardiola; he remains the Italians' priority.
