President: Franco Foda Turned Down Millions for Kosovo
According to the president of the Kosovan federation, Foda rejected very lucrative offers.
Franco Foda coached the ÖFB national team between 2017 and 2022. With Austria, he notably guided them to the European Championship round of 16 and promotion to the top tier of the UEFA Nations League.
Since 2024, the German has been the national coach of Kosovo. The former Sturm championship-winning coach almost managed to qualify for the World Cup, only being eliminated in the playoff final against Turkey.
Foda Convinced by Sporting Prospects
Success makes one sought after. As federation president Agim Ademi reveals in the "Sport Show", Foda turned down multi-million dollar offers for Kosovo.
They convinced the German with sporting prospects, as financially he could earn significantly more elsewhere.
"He has a house here, he lives in Kosovo, stays and works here. He is very interested in further developing Kosovan football," he praises his head coach.
At the end of September, Foda will return to Austria, where a clash with successor Ralf Rangnick awaits in the second-highest tier of the UEFA Nations League. The current ÖFB head coach was relegated in this competition after being promoted under Foda, and missed immediate re-promotion.
Foda achieved promotion from Group C with Kosovo.
