Officiated CL and World Cup Finals
For this important match, fans can look forward to a true star referee. UEFA has nominated Szymon Marciniak for the game.
The Pole celebrated his absolute highlight in 2022 with the World Cup final between France and Argentina, officiating the high-scoring match (3:3 AET) up to the penalty shootout. As is well known, Argentina prevailed there.
In 2023, he also officiated the UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan (1-0).
LASK Has No Fond Memories
The Pole officiated LASK in 2019 during the UEFA Champions League qualification against Club Brugge, where the Linz-based team suffered a 0-1 defeat in front of their home fans.
The Austrian national team also has anything but good memories of the Pole. In 2016, the 1-2 defeat against Iceland at the European Championship meant their group stage exit. In March 2022, their World Cup dream was shattered in Wales (1-2). Marciniak has never officiated a Celtic match.
