Manchester United Thrashes CL Debutan Sabah FK
The iconic English club makes a brilliant return to the Champions League. After three years of absence, they win their first game 4-0 – an ex-Salzburg player scores.
Manchester United has made an impressive return to the Champions League.
In their opening match in the Champions League, the "Red Devils" convincingly beat the Azerbaijani champions, Sabah FK, 4-0.
Matheus Cunha (27'), Bruno Fernandes (42'), former Salzburg player Benjamin Sesko (45'), and Lisandro Martinez (68') scored for the English side. The victory could have been even more emphatic, but Stas Pokatilov (33) in the Sabah FK goal often proved to be the final hurdle.
United's opening task is thus fulfilled. For Michael Carrick's team, the Manchester Derby against City awaits on Sunday, and in the next Champions League round, they will visit Atletico Madrid.
Sabah FK will face Slavia Prague at home in the next round. The Czechs dramatically lost their opening match 2-3 against RC Lens.
