"Expect More": Martinez Slams United Hierarchy

Manchester United's poor run of form continues.

The Red Devils suffered a 0-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid on the second Champions League matchday. Since their 4-0 victory against Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK (September 10), United have not won a competitive match.

Lisandro Martinez's frustration was evident after the match against the Madrid side. Speaking to "Amazon Prime", the Argentine slammed the club's leadership.

"I Have to Really Hold Back"

"I have to really hold back. But sometimes it's a reflection of where our club stands at the moment. We had a fantastic season last year, and now we expect more from the management. More players competing for a spot, because many clubs are also signing many players," said the centre-back.

Even if the team hasn't performed as expected, the 28-year-old felt the squad had not been strengthened sufficiently.

He even addressed Sporting Director Jason Wilcox directly: "Honestly, I expect more. I expect more from our Sporting Director."

Carrick Under Pressure

In the Premier League, United have six points after six matchdays – a rather meagre tally. They have already been eliminated from the League Cup.

Coach Michael Carrick is therefore under pressure. However, Martinez defended him: "He is doing his best. You can't constantly change, change, change the coach. But what about the other areas?"

Carrick himself declined to comment on the Argentine's interview.
