Como Continues Seamlessly
While Como played beautifully, the English offered little resistance. The ball reached Paz through several passes, who then played Douvikas through on goal. Lammens narrowed the angle, but Douvikas easily beat him with a chip for the 2-0 (49').
Shortly after, Da Cunha had a golden opportunity for the 3-0. Following a transition, the Como captain got a shot off inside the box; Maguire was too far away, but the shot went wide to the left of the goal (54').
ManUnited Falls Apart
As has often been the case this season, ManUnited was overwhelmed by the opponent's pace.
Baleba lost the ball on the left defensive flank with a sloppy misplaced pass. Paz stole the ball and surged into the box at full speed. The Argentine remained composed in front of Lammens, slotting it into the far corner to make it 3-0.
In the 76th minute, the Italians were quick again. Como attacked down the left with Bruno da Silva, who perfectly set up Ramon in the center with a cross. The advanced centre-back had all the time in the world and headed home for 4-0.
Just before the end, Zirkzee scored a consolation goal for 1-4 (90+1) after an assist from Diallo, but this changed nothing about the clear final result.
Como thus stands in fifth place after three matchdays. ManUnited, on the other hand, is only in 22nd place.
Goalfest in Lille
In the second early game on Wednesday evening, Galatasaray Istanbul defeats Lille 4-2.
Akgün opened the scoring for the Turks (2'). Just six minutes later, Diaoune equalized for the French side (8'). Diaoune then completed his brace, putting Lille 2-1 ahead (39').
Shortly before halftime, Batrakov equalized for Galatasaray (44'). The Turkish champions carried their momentum and then also took the lead through Torreira (52'). Star striker Osimhen extended the lead to 4-2 in the 61st minute.
