Ex-Salzburg player faces lengthy layoff
Following extensive examinations, the club reportedly fears a months-long injury layoff.
For former Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, the 2026 football year may already be over.
According to reports from the British tabloid "The Sun", there are fears at Manchester United that the Slovenian could be sidelined for up to four months. The forward is said to have undergone extensive examinations at United's training ground in Carrington prior to this.
Sources close to Sesko are reportedly hoping he won't be out until February. However, they are expecting a longer break.
Last season, a shin injury troubled Sesko. However, it is now believed to be a different injury.
Injury Update Expected End of Week
This Wednesday, the "Red Devils" will face Como 1907 away in the UEFA Champions League (from 6:45 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>) – should weather conditions permit.
After that, action continues on Sunday in the Premier League against Bournemouth. United coach Michael Carrick is expected to speak about details of Sesko's injury at the press conference before the match against the "Cherries".
The 23-year-old moved from RB Leipzig to the island last year and scored eleven goals in 30 games in his first Premier League season. This current season, he has scored once in four league appearances.
