Tottenham Hotspur achieve a vital win on the seventh matchday of the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Coventry City.

The Londoners took the initiative from the start, putting the visitors under pressure.

However, the first big chance fell to Coventry: Sakamoto broke through on the right side and, after a one-two in the box, took a shot.

Van Hecke, however, threw himself in the way at the last moment and blocked the shot (10').

Maddison's special top-corner goal

Shortly after, the Spurs struck. Kudus held onto the ball on the wing and laid it off to James Maddison, who fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner (14').

Against Coventry, where Maddison was born and went through the club's youth academy up to the professional team, he scores for the first time in 20 months. The Englishman is in the starting eleven for a league match for the first time in almost a year and a half.

Subsequently, it was an open game with slight advantages for the home team.

Coventry emerges strong after the break

After the change of ends, Rudoni got a shot away following a scramble in the penalty area and scored the equalizer for Coventry City, making it 1-1 (50').

However, the Spurs' response wasn't long in coming: Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham's lead with a spectacular long-range curling shot (59').

Subsequently, Coventry pushed for another equalizer, but Tottenham sealed the victory. After Solanke held up the ball, Davies scored with another long-range shot to make it 3-1 (90'+6).

With this, the Spurs celebrate their first win of the season and climb to 16th place in the table with six points.
