In-demand Polster: "I showed today what I'm capable of"
WAC celebrates another surprise in their second match of the season. After the game, the goalkeeper is particularly in the spotlight.
Wolfsberger AC has achieved a surprise in their second match of the young ADMIRAL Bundesliga season.
Following a 3-0 victory against Austria Wien, the Carinthians secured a 1-1 draw against FC Red Bull Salzburg (Match report>>>).
The Wolfsberg team was largely occupied with defensive duties for much of the match, but ultimately managed to fight for a point.
"The team is in a metamorphosis"
"One has to say that it's a fortunate point. Salzburg had the better scoring opportunities, but it was a point of passion – and I won't let anyone take that away from me," says WAC coach Thomas Silberberger on "Sky".
The Tyrolean is very happy with the start to the new season: "We now have four points from Austria Wien and Red Bull Salzburg, so it's a great start. The team is in a metamorphosis, and we want to build on that."
The fact that the Lavanttal side could ultimately celebrate a point was largely also due to Nikolas Polster, who kept his team in the game with several strong saves.
"We will also play with eleven next Saturday"
The WAC keeper has recently been the subject of transfer rumors. Several clubs are reportedly interested in the Vienna native.
For him, the game was merely confirmation of his ability: "I don't believe that one game decides whether I make a transfer or not. I showed today what I'm capable of. We will see how things progress in the coming days."
Silberberger also doesn't want to talk too much about transfer rumors after the match: "The Sword of Damocles will hang over us until September 7th. Nik is an outstanding goalkeeper, but I can assure you: We will also play with eleven in Lustenau next Saturday."
