A permanent captain has been confirmed one day before the Europa League opener. However, the decision comes as no surprise.
Red Bull Salzburg now has a permanent captain.
As coach Danny Röhl explains before the first Europa League match of the season, Nikolas Veratschnig will wear the armband for the remainder of the season.
"Finally we can clarify it – Niki is the captain for the season," he is quoted by the "Kronen Zeitung".
The Carinthian had already taken on the role in previous matches. His deputy, Haris Tabakovic, remains unchanged.
Röhl demands leadership from the duo
"It is very important to me that both of them take on leadership. They have done an excellent job in recent weeks, so there was no reason to change anything," the medium further quotes the coach. He emphasized that it is particularly important to him that both players lead by example.
For the two new signings and the rest of the team, the first Europa League points of the season will be up for grabs on Thursday in Bulgaria against Levski Sofia (from 6:45 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
