Sturm Chief Scout: Diakite buy option "within realistic range"
During halftime, Sturm's chief scout explains how the signing of the new star striker came about. He also provides insights into the purchase option.
Oumar Diakite is the high-flyer in Sturm Graz's attack.
In the 3-4 defeat against Red Bull Salzburg, he scored two goals in the first half alone.
During the halftime break, Philipp Kaufmann, Head of Scouting and Recruitment at Sturm Graz, was interviewed on "Sky".
The profile required for the new striker was clear even before signing Diakite: "Towards the end of the transfer window, we wanted to address the issue of physical power, someone who also has experience at the highest level. Nobody could have predicted that he would go on such a run right now."
Loan or permanent signing
Diakite has been on loan from Stade Reims since the summer. The "Blackies" hold a purchase option. It is not known how much Sturm would have to pay. Kaufmann, however, provides insights into the price range of the option.
The chief scout explains that Sturm only agrees to purchase options if they are "within a realistic range," where "we could actually trigger the option so that it makes sense."
That is likely the case for Diakite as well, who has scored twelve times in 690 minutes this season.
