Austria Vienna miss out on the hoped-for breakthrough!

The Violets could only manage a 1-1 draw away at WSG Tirol on matchday 12 of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

WSG Tirol got off to by far the better start. Austria could count themselves lucky not to fall behind after just seven minutes, as Boras missed a gilt-edged opportunity by volleying a high ball over the bar from five yards out.

Shortly afterwards, the Tyroleans made no mistake: Satin broke down the wing and played the ball to Taferner, who slipped it through to Baden Frederiksen. The striker kept his cool one-on-one with Sahin-Radlinger and slotted home for a deserved 1-0 lead.

WSG remain on top

WSG remained the stronger team after the opener. The hosts were sharper in the duels, usually a step quicker, and first to the ball. Austria, on the other hand, struggled to get into the match.

Nevertheless, the Violets managed to equalize from a corner. Eggestein played a short corner to Ranftl, who flicked it on to Dragovic. The center-back turned it in from close range to make it 1-1.

Austria improved in the second half

WSG again had the better start after the break. The Tyroleans produced a fine combination play going forward to put Baden Frederiksen in a shooting position.

However, Olakigbe played the ball slightly behind the Dane, who was unable to get a controlled shot away.

Austria subsequently grew into the game and created a good opportunity. Following a cross from Eggestein, former WSG captain Valentino Müller headed against the crossbar.

Shortly after, Lee also tried his luck, but his shot cleared the bar.

There were no notable chances for either side in the closing stages, leaving WSG Tirol and Austria Vienna to share the points in a 1-1 draw.
