Kiteishvili Out Longer - Sturm Criticizes Georgian FA
The key player has been injured again while with the national team. This is not going down well at his club.
Bitter news for SK Sturm Graz!
What had already been hinted at is now official: Otar Kiteishvili has sustained a muscle injury to his calf and will therefore be out for several weeks. The Styrians announced this on their channels on Tuesday evening.
Injured with the National Team
The key player for the "Blackies" sustained the injury during Georgia's Nations League match against Hungary on Friday. An MRI scan has now confirmed this.
At SK Sturm, the injury is causing frustration: "These reports are, of course, anything but pleasant. In recent weeks, we had tried to gradually reintroduce Otar to full load very carefully – unfortunately, our recommendations regarding his playing time with the national team were not taken into account," sports director Michael Parensen is quoted as saying.
Return Date Open
For Kiteishvili, it is the second injury in the still young season. The 30-year-old had only made two brief appearances due to a calf injury.
When the Georgian can return to the pitch is currently still open.
"We will again develop a detailed plan for the coming weeks with Otar and our medical department and do everything we can to see him back on the pitch at full strength," Parensen added.
