SK Rapid has gone into the international break as league leaders.

This is not least thanks to coach Johannes Hoff Thorup, who has further developed the team compared to last year. In an interview with the Danish sports medium "Tipsbladet", the 37-year-old spoke about his plans with SK Rapid, his personal future, and the expectations surrounding the club.

Overall, the Dane is satisfied with his team's development.

"Of course, there is always room for improvement, but overall things are going well. We are playing more and more the way I like, and we are developing our players so that we can dominate games more clearly than three or four months ago. Therefore, the likelihood of better results has also increased," said the 37-year-old in his interim assessment.

Longing for a Title

Currently, the team is reaping the rewards of good preparation, in which Hoff Thorup had the time to develop a playing style that meets his tactical requirements with targeted reinforcements.

"We have signed several technically skilled players, including midfielders with a good feel for the ball. That's why we need to develop a game with which we can dominate eight out of ten matches," the Hütteldorf coach explained, offering insights into the development process.

The longing for a title is strong within the club's environment. The coach also feels this: "It's talked about every single day when you're in the area. They haven't won anything in almost 20 years, not even a cup title - that's something you yearn for."

Fakt ist, dass Salzburg drei- bis viermal so viel Geld hat wie die anderen Vereine in Österreich und deshalb immer der Favorit sein wird.

However, the 37-year-old Dane warns against excessive expectations.

"The fact is that Salzburg has three to four times as much money as the other clubs in Austria and will therefore always be the favorite. We will then see if we can get full points in the seasons when they are not at the top, or if we can have a good season," said the former Norwich City and Nordsjaelland coach.

Goals? "Anything in the Top Three is Fine"

In this context, Hoff Thorup also addressed the goals: "We would like to compete at the very top, but realistically, anything in the top three is fine. But of course, we want more than that."

His contract with SK Rapid only runs until the end of the season. How does the 37-year-old Dane see his personal future? "We are not talking about it at the moment," Hoff Thorup clarified and added:

"I think it will only become relevant after Christmas, as there was a lot to clarify. The contract also contains clauses that allow for a one-year extension. There are some goals that need to be achieved and which appear quite realistic. Potentially, a discussion would then be superfluous, as the contract would automatically be extended."

On Sunday (from 5:00 PM in the LIVE-Ticker >>>), SK Rapid will face the top clash against LASK. The Hütteldorfers go into the encounter with the reigning champions with a two-point cushion.
