Silberberger Speaks About His Exit from WAC
The former WAC coach speaks for the first time after his dismissal in Lavanttal.
After 19 games, Thomas Silberberger had to leave WAC as head coach again at the end of October!
The Lavanttal team's poor start proved to be the undoing of the 52-year-old Tyrolean. A few weeks after the separation, Silberberger spoke for the first time with "Krone" about his exit.
"It was a burden and it hurt me," said Silberberger. "Because it was the first time in my career I was dismissed – before that, I had resigned myself at Admira. Everything happened quickly – I could only say goodbye to the lads via the WhatsApp group. But I'm looking at it soberly now, that's how the business is."
After eleven games, WAC remains in twelfth place in the table, having only won one game so far.
Reasons for the Exit
The reasons why things didn't quite work out under him were quickly found. According to the 52-year-old, after the draw at GAK (0:0) and the defeat against LASK (1:3), including the early red card, things went wrong.
Then more and more injuries occurred, such as that of captain Nicolas Wimmer.
However, even if things currently look far from rosy, Silberberger continues to believe in the club and his successor: "The upper play-off won't happen anymore, they now have to get out of the bottom – they will manage that! Coach Manni Schmid is doing it with a deep block."
