After the 0-3 loss against Japanese first-division side Gamba Osaka, FC Red Bull Salzburg also has to admit defeat against Istanbul Basaksehir in their second Wednesday friendly.

The "Bulls" start against the 2020 Turkish champions with several potential regulars.

Shortly before half-time, Salzburg fall behind. Summer signing Abubakr Barry is dispossessed in his own penalty area with a tackle. Basaksehir capitalizes on the chance, and Bertug Yildirim makes it 1-0 (40th).

Goal conceded in the closing stages

Shortly after the restart, Adam Daghim equalizes for 1-1 (54th). After an hour, Salzburg coach Danny Röhl completely changes the team, bringing in eleven new players from cooperation club FC Liefering.

The young team concedes a goal for 1-2 shortly before the end, Tugra Turhan scores (88th).

Next Saturday, the "Bulls" were actually scheduled to test against Mamelodi Sundowns before the start of their competitive season in the UNIQA ÖFB Cup. However, due to a death among the South Africans, the match was cancelled.

The search for a replacement opponent and a venue is ongoing, and the match will in any case be held behind closed doors.
