Confirmed! Robert Ljubicic returns to Austria
The brother of ÖFB national team player Dejan Ljubicic is back in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga and will play for LASK from now on.
LASK signs Robert Ljubicic (27) from AEK Athens on loan. The club announced this on Wednesday.
The Linz side holds a purchase option for the Austrian-Croatian player.
Head coach Didi Kühbauer knows the midfielder from his time at SKN St. Pölten and SK Rapid. "Robert is a player who will certainly help us. I am very much looking forward to working with him again. Even though he has gotten a bit older in the meantime, I am convinced that he has lost none of his energy and mentality," says the Burgenland native, looking forward to his former protege.
Stints abroad in Zagreb and Athens
After his time at Rapid, Ljubicic played for Dinamo Zagreb, moving to AEK Athens in January 2024. Now he returns to Austria.
"We are very pleased that the loan deal worked out, and we thank AEK Athens for the open and professional discussions. Robert is a versatile player who will give our game additional flexibility and bring valuable experience to the team," said Sports Director Dino Buric.
