Decision Made on New WAC Captain
It was long unclear who would succeed Dominik Baumgartner as captain at WAC. Now WAC has made its decision.
With Dominik Baumgartner's departure after the last season, WAC lost not only a key player and leader, but also the long-serving captain of the "Wolves".
Since then, the position had been vacant. WAC coach Thomas Silberberger took his time with his decision, but has now made his choice.
During a team-building event last Sunday, he is said to have informed his squad of the personnel decision. This was reported by the "Krone".
Nicolas Wimmer Becomes Captain
Thus, veteran Nicolas Wimmer - as expected - is set to succeed Dominik Baumgartner as captain and follow in his footsteps.
The centre-back already deputised for the 29-year-old as team captain last season and was considered the logical successor to the current Poland-based player. Markus Pink and Simon Piesinger will serve as Wimmer's deputies.
Wimmer moved from Austria Klagenfurt to Lavanttal in 2024, where the 31-year-old has played 72 competitive matches to date.
