Austria Lustenau narrowly defeated by German Bundesliga club
In a clash between last season's second division champions, Austria Lustenau narrowly loses to their German counterpart.
During the international break, Austria Lustenau hosted FC Schalke 04. The Ländle team put in a solid performance against Muslic's side, but it ended in a 1-0 victory for the "Knappen".
Although FC Schalke 04 had to do without players called up for their respective national teams, they still traveled with a top-class squad.
Goalless First Half
In the first half, the guests from Germany dominated the game and created numerous scoring opportunities, but lacked efficiency in front of goal.
It was a similar story for the hosts from Lustenau. When they got in front of the opponent's goal, they failed to convert their chances.
Sylla as the Redeemer
In the second half, both teams tried harder to push forward. In the 60th minute, Schalke striker Sylla was sent through, but Lustenau goalkeeper Schierl narrowed the angle and prevented a goal.
Just five minutes later, Schierl distinguished himself again. After a Bachmann header, the goalkeeper made a spectacular save to clear the ball for a corner.
The subsequent corner led to the lead for "Königsblau". Moussa Sylla rose highest and headed the ball in for a 1-0 lead. It was already Sylla's fifth goal during the international break.
In the remaining 25 minutes, neither team managed to score another goal. Thus, Miron Muslic's team secured their second win in their second friendly during the international break.
