Rangnick reveals who will be in goal and who won't start in attack

The ÖFB team manager expects a test of patience against Kosovo and anticipates he and Franco Foda will see eye to eye on some things.

The ÖFB team can make significant progress in the away game against Kosovo (Sun, from 6 PM in the LIVE ticker).

On the one hand, towards group victory and thus promotion to the highest tier of the UEFA Nations League, on the other hand, towards Pot 2 in the upcoming European Championship qualification draw.

"Of course, that would be nice, and we would wish for it. But first, we have to perform on the pitch. It would be great to conclude the training camp with a victory, but Franco Foda probably says the same thing," Ralf Rangnick laughs.

Unlike in the first encounter

The 3-1 victory against the Foda side in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium was certainly the ÖFB team's most dominant performance to date in the current international match phase.

Great frustration over the Pristina pitch >>>

"We were the team with more possession and goal-scoring opportunities, yet still very efficient," the team manager recalls.

However, this does not allow for conclusions about Sunday's match: "It will certainly be more demanding. It's possible that we'll need a bit of patience, that we'll simply have to endure certain things. We need to stay persistent and find the right solutions."

Schlager to start in goal

For the coach, it's also about finding the right players, of course.

It is certain that Alexander Schlager will be in goal. The Salzburg native already started against Israel and will now also conclude the training camp.

Carney Chukwuemeka's involvement is questionable. "In Dublin, his muscle seized up at halftime," reports Rangnick.

Kalajdzic not to start in attack

Sasa Kalajdzic is not a candidate for the starting XI; he played the full match in Ireland, although only 60 minutes were originally planned.

"Up front, I will choose between Michael Gregoritsch and Junior Adamu," says the team manager.

Danso set for comeback

Kevin Danso is available again after his yellow card suspension, and it is likely that he will be in the starting eleven.

It remains open how Rangnick plans with Konrad Laimer, who is unlikely to manage 90 minutes yet after his injury break.

Will Bacher play?

Felix Bacher is the only outfield player in the current squad who is still waiting for playing time.

"It's possible he will get playing time. He has done very well in training so far, and he is also very well-liked as a person and character. He makes a very focused and down-to-earth impression," says Rangnick.

Who would you pick?
