Red Bull Salzburg Signs Former Germany International for Academy

A big name could soon be working at the Salzburg academy. He was once a German champion and played for the Germany national team.

FC Red Bull Salzburg has a strong reputation for its youth development work. Raphael Ikache is now once again in charge of youth development, having most recently served as Daniel Beichler's assistant with the professional team.

He has now succeeded in bringing a big name to Salzburg. According to the "Salzburger Nachrichten", former Germany international Roberto Hilbert will be assistant coach for the U16 and U18 teams next season.

As a coach, the 41-year-old has been gaining his initial experience in various roles at Greuther Fürth since 2019.

Last International Cap at Happel

As a player, he made eight appearances for Germany's senior national team. He played his last international match in February 2008 at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, when the Germans defeated Austria 3-0 in a friendly.

He also boasts successes in club football. In 2007, he became German champion with Stuttgart. In total, he amassed 178 games in the German Bundesliga and 18 appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

In addition to Stuttgart, he played for Fürth, Besiktas, and Bayer Leverkusen.
