Massombo Case: Altach Examines Further Steps

Yann Massombo caused a lot of unrest ahead of the Bundesliga match between SK Sturm Graz and SCR Altach!

Sturm Confirms Interest

The reason is a possible transfer of Massombo to the Styrians. This was confirmed by both head coach Fabio Ingolitsch and sporting director Michael Parensen before the match.

Even after the final whistle, tempers flared. Altach Sporting Director Philipp Netzer primarily criticized Ingolitsch, who reportedly had several phone calls with the player in recent weeks. This also occurred immediately before departure, as Altach announced in a statement.

Altach Examines Further Action

A day after the match, the Vorarlbergers have now issued another statement, announcing that they are examining further steps in the Massombo case.

"SCR Altach has taken note of the statements made by the SK Sturm Graz coach after yesterday's match. These confirm that contact between SK Sturm Graz and player Yann Massombo has taken place. Furthermore, there are additional facts that confirm this. Against this backdrop, the club sees itself compelled to examine further steps," the statement read.

The club also emphasizes that Massombo is under contract with Altach until summer 2027. Additionally, there is an option for another year's extension. "The club was not informed at any time about ongoing discussions," SCR Altach wrote.

It further stated: "The subsequent procedure and, in particular, the employment law handling of the player are currently still being examined internally. SCR Altach will comment on further details in due course."
