Austria snatches late point at GAK

GAK and Wiener Austria draw 2-2 on Matchday 7 of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

Wiener Austria's away game against the Graz "Red Jackets" took some time to get going. The Styrians' first chance after a quarter of an hour immediately led to a GAK lead. Hofleitner received the ball with his back to goal just outside the penalty area, turned past his marker, and fired the ball in off the inside of the post.

Handl's header from an Eggestein corner was Austria's first real chance (19'), while Boateng later chipped the ball directly into the arms of GAK keeper Stankovic (21'). The shot-stopper was also on hand for Buhari's corner kick (28').

Fischer brings Austria back into the game

Although Austria made efforts, it took them a long time to create further chances. It wasn't until just before halftime that the Violets managed to equalize: Boateng controlled the ball in the penalty area and laid it off for the oncoming Fischer, who, as Austria's captain, fired the ball into the net for the 1-1 equalizer (45').

Ten minutes after the break, the Graz side regained the lead. Lichtenberger's cross was a little too high for Hofleitner, but it fell perfectly in front of Italiano. He didn't hesitate from close range and slotted it in for 2-1 (55').

Late equalizer for the Violets

Despite having some possession, Austria struggled for a long time to create chances for an equalizer. It wasn't until confusion surrounding a delayed substitution unsettled the Graz side that the Violets were able to strike. Dragovic flicked on a free-kick from midfield towards the far post, where substitute Lee Kang-Hee volleyed in the equalizer (81').

In the closing stages, the Graz team pushed for another lead, but they couldn't find a further goal. At the final whistle, it was still 2-2, with the points being shared between Graz and Vienna.

Wiener Austria is eighth with seven points, while GAK holds eight points in sixth place.
