First Season Win: WSG Thrashes Lustenau

To kick off the 5th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, WSG Tirol clearly beat Austria Lustenau 4-0 away from home.

In pouring rain in Lustenau, the visitors had the first opportunity, with Nikolai Baden-Frederiksen failing against Phillip Böhm in the Austria Lustenau goal right at the start. The 24-year-old was making his Bundesliga debut after Domenik Schierl's red card suspension.

After that, the play went back and forth, but no real goal threat emerged. Only Antonio Verinac hit the side netting for the hosts after a good individual effort.

WSG Tirol Grows Stronger

As the game progressed, the Tyroleans took control and pushed more for the game, with Thomas Goiginger shooting over the goal from a good position.

In the 42nd minute, it happened: After good build-up play on the right wing, Husein Balic delivered a dangerous cross from the byline, finding Michael Olakigbe perfectly positioned to score the opener.

Immediately after, Balic had the chance to double the lead, but after an error by Niklas Pertlwieser, he only hit the side netting.

With the last action of the first half, Austria also became dangerous again, but WSG goalkeeper Salko Hamzic and the post combined to keep out a directly taken corner kick.

The Scoreline Becomes Decisive

After the break, Lustenau seemed more active, but WSG scored their second goal with their first counter-attack.

Olakigbe played a perfect through ball for Baden-Frederiksen, who confidently slotted it into the far corner (52'). From then on, only the visitors were playing; Baden-Frederiksen initially missed two more chances, but then the visitors extended their lead.

First, Marc Striednig scored from a corner kick (60'), then the referee awarded a penalty after a foul by Lustenau keeper Böhm on Drew Murray and VAR intervention. Baden-Frederiksen did not let the chance slip and bagged a brace (66').

With the score at 4-0, the game was finally decided, though the visitors had further chances. Austria Lustenau missed a consolation goal with a double chance through Precious Benjamin, who hit the post, and Seydou Diarra.

In the table, the Tyroleans temporarily move up to seventh place with their first win of the Bundesliga season, while Austria Lustenau remains fifth.
