Wonder Goal Brace! 19-Year-Old Shines Against Rapid

He is the great discovery of the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup: Tristan Schoppitsch.

The 19-year-old offensive player from Austria Klagenfurt caused considerable problems for mighty SK Rapid with his speed and shooting technique. He equalized twice for the regional league team, each time in an absolutely spectacular fashion:

For the 1-1 goal, he left several Rapid defenders in his wake and sensationally hammered the ball into the net from 20 meters; for the 2-2 equalizer, he outran Nenad Cvetkovic and scored wonderfully with a chip.

Modest Despite Wonder Goals

At "Puls4", they want to know from Schoppitsch which of his two goals was his favorite.

"I'm not someone who likes to look back. I always concentrate on the next game," says the son of former Bundesliga player Kai Schoppitsch modestly.

Despite his brace, promotion ultimately wasn't in the cards for the bravely fighting Klagenfurt team. "As a team, we worked really well defensively and gave everything, but in the end, the pace surprised us. The difference between the Bundesliga and the regional league is huge," said Schoppitsch.

Not Yet an ÖFB U-Team Player

Nevertheless, as a young player, he can "learn a lot from such a match. You can take the opposing player who plays in your position and see what he did."

Schoppitsch had a perfect start to the season with three goals and two assists, plus now three goals in the ÖFB Cup. Unlike his 17-year-old brother Silas, who plays for Wiener Austria, Tristan has not yet played a game for an ÖFB youth national team.

Both Schoppitsch brothers could also play for the Canadian national team due to a Canadian mother. Silas, for example, has already played three times for Canada's U17s before making his debut for the ÖFB U17s in May.
