Oberwart Helpless! Salzburg Delivers Röhl a Successful Debut

Under new coach Röhl, Red Bull Salzburg achieves a nearly perfect start to their competitive season.

Despite a committed performance from the regional league team, the "Bulls" secure a decisive 7:1 victory over Oberwart.

Oberwart starts aggressively and gets their first good opportunity after just five minutes from a corner through Wisak, but they fail to convert it.

Salzburg proves accurate in front of goal

Salzburg then finds its rhythm and celebrates the 1:0 lead with its first chance (8'). Diabete sends Baidoo deep, who breaks through and puts the ball over the line.

Just three minutes later, Vertessen scores through Kraus's legs to make it 2:0. Despite a committed performance from the home team, the "Bulls" continue to display their quality. Vertessen and Diakate are thwarted by Oberwart's goalkeeper shortly after.

Diakite converts penalty

After Kögl takes a chance and shoots from outside the box, Salzburg is awarded a penalty almost immediately in return. Trimmel unfairly dispossesses Veratschnig. Diakite gives Kraus no chance and nets a high shot into the middle for the 3:0 (33').

However, the regional league team sets the final score of the first half. Hutter breaks through against Zabransky and reduces the deficit to 1:3 (35').

Salzburg continues to set the pace

After a quiet start to the second half, it's the Salzburgers who celebrate again. Redzic scores the 4:1 after an assist from Diakite (54').

In the 76th minute, after an uneventful 20 minutes, Veratschnig spectacularly heads in the "Bulls'" fifth goal after a cross from Kitano. He thus proves his goal-scoring threat in his first competitive match, having already contributed several goals in test games.

The team from Salzburg is not yet satisfied. A little later (80'), Kitano scores to make it 6:1, showcasing his technical class. And Redzic also follows up, increasing the lead to 7:1.

Salzburg thus confidently advances to the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB-Cup.
